Avery Solmssen
Co-Founder, Principal Designer

Avery Solmssen has been in the interior design field for 22 years.  She has spent her career working independently as well as with Honolulu based design firms; most recently leaving her position as a Senior Associate Designer at Philpotts Interiors.

Avery’s interest in interior design started when she was a young girl. She spent her formative years abroad with her mother, an artist, and father, an international investment banker.  She was born in Tokyo and moved to Seoul shortly thereafter.  She and her family continued to travel and explore the East Coast of the United States and eventually moved west and stayed in California.

Though much of her life was spent traveling the globe, Avery’s roots in the islands are fully engrained. Her grandmother, a native Hawaiian, was born and raised on the Big Island, and Avery’s husband is also from the Big Island. Avery pulls ideas and stimuli from her environment.  “Hawai‘i is full of inspiration,” she says, “we are so tied to our culture and the arts. You never know where you’re going to find it.”  Avery feels the biggest responsibility of an interior designer is to gather information, to take an idea, give it life, and make it beautiful.

Avery’s partnership with Lily is an extension of her desire to deliver interiors in a meaningful and lasting way. Lily’s extensive knowledge of business, home design, and love of color is treasured opportunity.
